Winder, Georgia, (population 15,000) was first occupied hundreds of years ago by Creek Indians, in 1793, who called the village Snodon. The city began to achieve prominence with the arrival of railroads, which were constructed, in 1884. Today, Winder offers its residents plenty of activities and attractions. The city features a classic downtown area with local restaurants and stores as well as the Historic Winder Train Depot. Additionally, Winder has many outdoor parks like Fort Yargo State Park and Apalachee River Parks that are great for camping or enjoying nature.
